Geo 1405 Pyramid Quiz 2

You are now an experienced veteran of a pyramid quiz in this course, so let me just reiterate some important points.

The pyramid quiz uses a longer scantron answer sheet than the typical quizzes. You will NOT neet to enter your student ID number on the answer sheet, but you DO need to PRINT YOUR FULL NAME LEGIBLY on the question sheets and answer sheets. Be certain that you bring a functional #2 pencil with you to the midterm quiz.

This is a closed-book, closed-notes quiz conducted in accord with the university's student honor code, in which the work you hand-in for credit must be entirely your own work. The midterm questions are © 2018 by Vincent S. Cronin and may not be copied, duplicated, shared, or retained in any way by anyone other than Dr. Cronin.

The pyramid quiz will probably have about 30 questions.

• The content will include material about igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic processes and products (rocks and related materials), and volcanoes.
• You will take the quiz on your own as a closed-book, closed-notes, individual exercise during the first 2/3 of the quiz time (about 30 minutes). Then those test questions and answer sheets will be handed-in, and you will group with 2-4 other folks to take the SAME quiz as a group, creating a single group answer sheet on which you submit answers that the entire group agrees on. The group part will entail discussion within the group, but will still be a closed-notes closed-book exercise.
• Groups will have no fewer than 3 members and no more than 5 members. Students will form their own groups.
• At the end of the class period, you will turn-in the group answer sheet and quiz-question sheet with the full names of all members of the group printed legibly on them.
• 75% of the resulting grade will be based on your individual results, and the rest will be based on the results of the group you were a part of. (If your individual results are better than the group results, your grade will be 100% based on your individual results.)

The information you will need to do well in this quiz has been made available to you through the lecture textbook, the online study modules and homework exercises, the text and activities in the AGI/NAGT Laboratory Manual in Physical Geology, and the web resources provided by Dr. Cronin here and through the web pages associated with

• igneous processes and products, including volcanoes,
• sediments and sedimentary rocks, and
• metamorphic processes and products.

Try to arrange your study schedule so that you get a full 8 hours of sleep the night before the midterm quiz.
