The reading assignments are in the required textbooks listed on the main course syllabus (https://croninprojects.org/Vince/Course/PhysGeol/Geo1405-Spring2021.html. A reminder about how to get to the eText is provided HERE

  1. Read : the study questions for this section, listed at https://croninprojects.org/Vince/Course/PhysGeol/Geo1405-MetRox-Q.html and keep them in mind as you read the following assignments. Most, if not all, of the answers will be in the reading assignments for this topic.
  2. View the video introducing the material in Chapter 7 of the AGI/NAGT Lab Manual at https://goo.gl/KEp1Md
  3. View the pronunciation guide for geoscience terms used in Chapter 7 of the AGI/NAGT Lab Manual at https://youtu.be/qavk7Pzv9pk
  4. View a short video by Dave McConnell and friends — Metamorphic Rocks and Toast.
  5. Scan: Earth, chapter 8, section 8.1, What is Metamorphism? and section 8.2, What Drives Metamorphism?
  6. Read: Earth, chapter 8, section 8.6 Determining Metamorphic Environments, sub-section Using Index Minerals to Determine Metamorphic Grade. This will help you with Activity 7.2 in the Lab Manual.
  7. Read: Earth, chapter 8, section 8.3, Metamorphic Textures and section 8.4 Common Metamorphic Rocks. This will help you with Activities 7.3 and 7.4 in the Lab Manual.
  8. Read: Earth, chapter 8, section 8.5 Metamorphic Environments and section 8.6, Determining Metamorphic Environments. This will help you with Activity 7.5 in the Lab Manual.
  9. Complete the lab assignment as described below

    Important Notes
